2.What data we process
We only process the data you send us or the data the website needs in order to work:
- when you write to us: your name, your email address and what you tell us in your message, including any details about your situation you choose to include;
- when you call us: your phone number and what you tell us during the call;
- when you visit the website: the technical data every server receives (IP address, browser type, requested page, time), kept in the hosting provider's logs for security.
The “Send by email” button does not send anything to us: it opens your own email app with the message filled in. We only receive it if you send it from your app.
We do not use visitor analytics, tracking cookies or advertising.
3.Why we use it and on what legal basis
- To reply to you and to establish whether we can assist you, including the conflict-of-interest check our professional rules require. The legal bases are Article 6(1)(b) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR), steps taken at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in replying to requests (Article 6(1)(f)).
- To keep the website running securely. The legal basis is our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- To meet our legal obligations, such as accounting, tax and professional duties. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(c) GDPR.
Data we receive from clients in the course of legal assistance is processed under the legal assistance contract and protected by lawyers' professional secrecy.
If you send us health data or data on criminal offences, we use it only to establish, exercise or defend legal claims (Article 9(2)(f) GDPR), in compliance with Article 10 GDPR and Law no. 51/1995.
4.Who receives it
We do not sell or rent data. It may be received by:
- the website's hosting provider and our email provider, who process it on our behalf as processors, under a contract concluded in accordance with Article 28 GDPR;
- authorities, courts, bailiffs, notaries, experts and translators, where the law requires it or where it is necessary for the legal assistance contract we have with you;
- our accountant and our professional liability insurer, to the extent they need it for their legal obligations.
If a provider processes data outside the European Economic Area, the transfer only takes place with the safeguards set out in the GDPR: a European Commission adequacy decision (such as Implementing Decision (EU) 2023/1795 on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework) or standard contractual clauses.
5.How long we keep it
- Messages that do not lead to an engagement: no more than 12 months after the last exchange.
- Data in client files: for the period required by law and by the rules of the legal profession.
- The website's technical logs: for the period set by the hosting provider, usually a few weeks.
6.Your rights
Under Articles 15–22 GDPR you have the right:
- to know what data we hold about you and to receive a copy;
- to have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected;
- to ask for your data to be erased or its processing restricted;
- to object to processing based on our legitimate interest;
- to receive your data in a structured format (portability), where it applies.
Write to us at office@iacobsiolteanu.ro. We reply within one month. Some rights may be limited by legal obligations and by professional secrecy; where that is the case, we tell you why.
Giving us your data is not mandatory, but without a name and a way to reach you we cannot reply. We make no automated decisions and do no profiling.
7.Complaints to the authority
If you believe we have processed your data unlawfully, you can complain to the Romanian data protection authority (ANSPDCP):

The website only loads over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Messages and files are only accessible to the firm's lawyers, who are bound by professional secrecy.
